Boxing Day (Gideon day 35)

12.00u

Well, such good news yesterday and another step back today.

Gideon had cramps yesterday from 3.30pm to 7.30pm and he threw up all the time. This was very intense as he did not recover well from it. He was really pale and grey due to the oxygen deficiency (he kept dropping to the 70%, this should stay above the 90%), completely exhausted and impossible to comfort.

Once he was completely exhausted, the cramps were over and he was deep asleep again, we were able to enjoy a Christmas meal that friends of ours had prepared and my parents had brought along. All the trimmings, what a luxury and what a blessing!!!

Last night Nathanael slept with Gideon again and they both had a good night. This morning a brief moment of cramps which Gideon did recover on his own. It has now been decided to go back to 8 feedings of 70ml. We suddenly realised this morning that the cramps started when the feedings went to 7 x 80ml. Perhaps his stomach just can't handle that yet. Let's hope and pray this is a solution, because we're pretty much through. Those moments are so intense for Gideon and therefore also for us that we can't really handle it anymore. I just told Nathanael that I don't dare to enjoy myself easily anymore, afraid of a moment when things go wrong again. I absolutely do not want that, so I really try to enjoy every stable and beautiful moment and especially our wonderful little guy who has already made so many great strides! We are so proud of him and love him immeasurably!!!

Dear ones, very good to express your feelings honestly! It is also very human to feel down and out of it sometimes! At times like that, know that there are many people behind you who want to help you stay on your feet! You need that in these times! We sympathise with you! Love you guys!!! Big kiss and hug

Just a big hug for the three of you. What brave heroes you are. For over a month you have been continuously caring for your little man isolated from the outside world that just carries on. What love and dedication! And how much you need to refuel. God is near. My prayer for you is that God will encourage you and supernaturally fill you with new strength. Much love, Tamara

Dear brave parents. That questioning and searching to listen to what your child is signalling. That is so spicy sometimes ( even for parent with a normal start ). Gideon is doing so handsomely. Breastfeeding I applaud but if the problem remains.....dare to try other foods. After a year, I had a calm child overnight:) Good luck with continuing to watch, listen, nurture, take your own rest, trust and give thanks.

brave darlings.
you are so incredibly positive in all the steps you and this little one are making. God's strength and love is so visible and palpable through you. and He will continue to do so, even in the uncertainty and fatigue.
your blog is a diary of testimonies of ordinary people with human concerns being lifted above themselves by the creator of heaven and earth, ruler of all that lives! what power!!! thick loves from here!!!

Dear Kanjers,
It's good of you to share your feelings in this way.Sometimes it can be difficult, hopeless, especially when you have to watch as a mother and father how your brave little man is fighting.Gideon is a real fighter/fighter.He has already overcome so much. Now he has to take the last step. We pray for God's strength, even in those difficult moments. Know that God is carrying you every moment. Sweet greetings from the three of us

Ow Dear treasures how intense! We keep praying for all three of you, give yourselves space to feel what's there, be a bit kind to yourselves. It's also just very intense. Fortunately, God is always the same and I pray that you will feel carried on His wings. And will be able to shelter in His arms. He is with you in every moment and cherishes you even more than you cherish Gideon. We continue to pray for wisdom, insight and peace. And, of course, for full recovery. And also for refreshment, new strength for all three of you.
