Grateful!
No news is...
Gideon is still doing incredibly well. In fact, he has been doing better for a few days than before the operation.
His wounds are healing well and he has little to no discomfort. We have not yet had to use the gastro-catheter in the abdomen for excess air, so hopefully it will stay that way and can come out in 4 weeks. With food, we are slowly moving towards some more solid food. The day before yesterday for the first time some bread (without crust), yesterday some cherry tomatoes and today a crossaint. Not quite finished, but without any problems.
We see a big difference in his stamina compared to a few months back. A 100-metre stretch where he was quick to ask to be allowed on the shoulders he now walks without any problems. We haven't had a moment of spitting up or crazy nights after the operation. And his eating (though it's mashed for now) has also been better for months. And perhaps best of all, he is happier than ever and (giggles) laughs more than we have experienced from him so far. We don't have to hold back on tickling or goofing around now. How wonderful, and how nice to notice that he really is better in his skin than ever! And then he hasn't even fully recovered from the surgery yet.
How much we are enjoying and how well things are going. Grateful!

Darlings, I have read back through everything. What a mega process again and how nice that things are going well now. You are the best dad&mom he could wish for. I wish you strength & power in the struggle for life and the struggle with God. Though you are out of sight, certainly not out of mind. Nice to read a blog. I can pray with you. Love Eunice
