Gideon 5 years!

Where is the time... Gideon celebrated his 5th birthday last week. And what a birthday!

We celebrated on a Sunday at a restaurant near a playground for family and friends. Lots of people and lots of children. Gideon nice and busy, lots of playing, eating cake and being spoiled. And then falling asleep deliciously, and the next day excited about all he had experienced. And all without any negative consequences! Wow!

We only realised in retrospect that this was the first birthday we really celebrated uncomplicated and big. In doing so, we didn't have to pay attention to whether it would all be too much for him. Lovely! And on the day of his birthday, he also had his first real children's party. 4 children from class at a birthday party with the theme of Gideon's favourite pastime. A "domino party". Having "domino treats" at school. After school, eating domino bread (cut in the shape of domino cubes), playing dominoes (he had received Kapla and a package of 250 domino bricks for his birthday), playing outside, scavenger hunt with treasure hunt and then going home, tired but satisfied.

How we enjoy moments like these. Especially when we realise how different things have been. Grateful!
