Gideon day 18
13.30u
Last night and today, Gideon is more restless again. They think this is (still!) the aftermath of the morphine.... He gags a lot, sweats a lot and his temperature goes from too hot to too cold and back again. This is now rearing its head because the luminal (against withdrawal symptoms) was also phased out. What his little body has to cope with already!
He cries more and it takes a bit longer for us to calm him down completely. Fortunately, he always calms down completely because we comfort him.
Last night, Gideon was on CPAP again anyway, to give him some rest.
So far it has gone so well, yet every 'setback' is intense and difficult to deal with.
Finally, we notice that we are starting to get very tired. Resting moments are very hard to catch and it's just in us to want to be with Gideon as much as possible.
We don't want to bring a demeanour, as our little guy and us are still doing well. We do want to be honest about our feelings though!
We put Gideon and ourselves in God's hand daily, which gives us peace and we still look forward to a hopeful future as a family!

Being honest about your feelings during difficult(er) moments is very healthy. You can present it to the Lord much better and you will actually grow stronger, recover and be able to move on full of courage. Denying your difficulties will actually break you in the long run, because you won't let it go. In short. you are doing a fantastic job :) Open-hearted, loving and confident. Big hugs!

..we keep praying for you: canjers!!!! it's quite not what you have to go through! And despite doing well every time, this is tough and takes a lot of energy. That's already the case in a 'normal' situation.... We hope you have a good night's sleep later and wake up fresh tomorrow. love!

Dear Marieke and Nathanaël,
I can so imagine that a setback is intense! And what an energy it takes to deal with all the emotions you have to go through. That's already the case with a healthy baby, let alone with such a long period in hospital.
How lucky Gideon is that you are with him so much because where is he better than with you! By reading the blog we already feel your love for him so strongly, how Gideon will feel it when you surround and touch him! He will feel that in his body and his heart! What a privilege to read your blog, thank you so much for every day!
I bless you with His Wisdom in dealing with fatigue and also the loving Hand of God over you for refreshment, fresh courage and energy.
You guys are doing a fantastic job, hats off, all respect!
Toi Toi! Very big hugs!

You are brave people! Quite a lot is coming your way! Every time things go really well and then a day like today seems a bit tense to me, even though you know God is there for you. Tension takes a lot of energy.
We are thinking of you in our prayers!
Sweet greetings from us.

Dear M&N and Gideon...
We pray you rest and peace and strength from God. We trust that all will be well, just a few lines that come to mind from revival 582.
All my hopes,
my plans and my time
I place them in Your hand and entrust them to You.
Sweet greetings and hugs from the three of us
