Gideon day 52
22.00u
We are back in Amersfoort for a while. The last time we were home for a while did us so much good, and now we felt such a need to "refuel" for a while that we just went home again.
Gideon has had a stable day. This morning as usual. At 6am he had had enough of the CPAP and he showed it. Then they put him back on the lowflow where he also had better values that morning than yesterday, and he was also nice and awake. But after dinner at 3 p.m. he hasn't really been awake anymore and we noticed that he really has to lose energy. We just saw on the babywatch that they had put him on the CPAP and they were still fiddling with the nosepiece without waking him up. You can see from that that he really does need it then.
We also recovered reasonably well from yesterday. It is a bit of a blow again, but on the way to Amersfoort we found out that we both had the feeling in ourselves that a new fighting spirit has emerged since this morning with the feeling that the autopilot button has gone off. That's about the best way we can describe it. When you talk about worshipping God and focusing on Jesus especially in the times when things are difficult that has been sort of automatic for us for a long time now. But we find now that we really have to make a very conscious choice to do that. Choosing to focus on the One who is our hope and security. The One who gives us the strength to keep going. That's why we also took a moment to very consciously give thanks for the things that are now. Like that if recurrence (open diaphragm again) is the problem, there is also an identifiable reason why Gideon had such a relapse. And that we are glad they are finding out now and that we were not already in the WKZ. All that sort of thing. Plenty to be thankful for. We'll see the rest later.
God is faithful. Strength for today, joyful hope for the future. I raise my eyes to the mountains, where does my help come from. My help is from the Lord, creator of heaven and earth.
For us, absolutely the truth and experience.

Wow, what a testimony! Since I experience few intense things in life and do want to be a real Christian, you are an example to me in this in how to be a Christian in joy and sorrow. That is one of the things that triggers me the most since I have been following your blog with some regularity. Jesus visible through you. I pray that you may keep holding on to that all the time. Beautiful that it can now also be seen how you are making the choice to worship consciously again.

Gratitude gives you courage and strength. I wouldn't be surprised if, because you consciously trust God instead of on 'automatic pilot', a lot more courage and strength unexpectedly pours in. Your door is wide open for Him!

Good morning dear family,
I want to bless you with Isaiah 40:28-31
"Don't you know?
Have you not heard?
The eternal God, the Lord, the creator of the ends of the earth,
does not get tired or jaded.
There is no fathoming of His insight.
He gives strength to the weary and He increases the strength of those who have no strength.
Young people will be tired and jaded, young men will surely stumble;
but those who expect the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall spread their wings like eagles, they shall run fast and not be weary, they shall walk and not be weary.
This is my prayer for you today.
Love

What brave people you are! Respect for your calmness in this situation! Every day I read your blog and hope with you! How wonderful it will be to read in a while that Gideon is going home with you! I wish the three of you all the strength and power you need for this time of hope, fear and longing. Sweet greetings!

dear N&M,
beautiful that you can find so much to be thankful to God for! And that in your situation and after yesterday's news! how good and special! i just read a text and was reminded of you. don't remember exactly where it says it, but the.thrust was this: if you ask for something in His name and believe you have already received it, He will do it. And you have such assurance that you will take Gideon home healthy! i say, consider it done.... in response to this text. sleep well.

N&M,
This morning at Cleansing Stream, we had exactly the same lesson about being grateful in all situations. And you guys apply this with such confidence and drive. We are so proud of you and how you look up.
His faithfulness colours the morning.

Dear Nathanaël and Marieke,
our thoughts are with you! On the one hand, health seems so obvious when everything is going well, but when we have been following you for so long, we know that it can also be different. We wish you and Gideon God's peace and quiet. And also that God's plans for Gideon's life will come to full fruition.
