Gideon day 60
Also today Gideon is stable, super! he is starting to find the CPAP annoying though, he knocked that snorkel off his nose 3 times today.... Oh oh, that Gideon.
This afternoon, Nathanaël went to Bussum, where he joined his father, his brothers and sister in clearing out their parental home. His father is moving to a smaller house, quite spicy for Nathanaël and his family. Many memories of the past and of his mother are still in that house and its surroundings. He liked the fact that he could still help with sorting out some things. He will then sleep in Amersfoort tonight and go to work tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow afternoon we have a meeting with our contact doctor, who will (hopefully) explain to us how the day after will go. Will Gideon be intubated in place, or will that happen in the OR. Will he be 'under sail' for a long time, or as long as a normal operation? Many more questions that we may get answers to tomorrow.
Well, Gideon is asleep, so I'm in the RmcD house now. I'll just go make myself a cup of tea, relax, pump and then sleep in time!

It's been a while since I let myself be heard from. Today it's 61 days already. How quickly time goes by on the one hand and very slowly on the other.... What stamina you have! You have to, I understand that and you must be longing for a life with Gideon at home, but you are going through this with such a big heart. Super!!! I will keep praying for you, because you need that too. Thankfully, the Strength to carry comes from Him and He is with you.
Thank you for writing a story for us every time!!! It's great to be able to live/read along like this.

Dear Marieke, It must be strange, your first night on your own (?) but it's good that Nathanaël was there today, because searching together and cleaning up from ''the old days'', and of course having a good time together is also valuable. And besides, a little help for ''grandpa'' is quite good once in a while. I am glad that Gideon is doing a bit better, that he can recover and strengthen a bit, so that he can face the operation in better condition. And I hope the ordeal of your patience and resilience may soon come to an end.
Lots of strength these days, and hopefully you are already asleep.
