Gideon is having a reasonable day, with a good finish. He was very restless last night, the nursing staff thinks it's due (again) to the tapering of the morphine... Fortunately, he seemed a little less bothered by it today, except that he's spitting up a lot.
And yes, this afternoon at 5pm Gideon was allowed to practice on the low-flow again. What a pretty face he has, which we could now admire all over again.
The oxygen is only at 21% (the lowest setting, whatever we breathe in) and the flow at 0.8 (the highest setting). And he is doing great! Even when he was vomiting heavily, his values remained super good. Remember we wrote that before, spitting up was usually the reason he could have such a big dip? So not now!!!
We just left him again, on the low-flow. They'll see how things go tonight, but at least for the night he'll go back on CPAP, so as not to exhaust him immediately. Tonight's nurse said he did expect Gideon to be able to go all the way to low-flow soon. How lovely to hear that, we'll probably be dreaming again next night about the future with Gideon at home, which seems to be a little closer again 🙂 🙂

Wow, what wonderful news to hear say!!!! Hope Gideon had a good night last night. I can imagine your night was better than in ages, with very nice dreams that will hopefully come true very soon! Walking behind the pram with sunshine on your face......heer prospect!

Dear Marieke and Nathanael,
When David was born, I followed this blog all the way, and since last week I heard via via that you have had a second beautiful son. How beautiful and sweet he is! But also incredibly intense to read that you are not spared the trouble and tension. It's always on my mind, so I can't help but leave a message here, even though we haven't spoken or seen each other for years.
So much strength and love emanates from how you look up in the midst of the "storm", and expect it from our Heavenly Father. Nothing but admiration, and I pray with you from the bottom of my heart for that little Gideon. "Our God is Mighty to save!"
