Mixed Emotions

It is so double, David's grave is finished and next week we have the 20-week ultrasound of our second child.
Yet it doesn't feel weird to us. We can cry, laugh, look back and look forward. It is so connected and yet this pregnancy and this baby is all new again.

Here you can see the picture of the grave. We made it ourselves and are 'proud' of the result. We kept it simple and it suits us and David. A combination of the cards we made. The birth card, the bereavement card and the thank-you card after the funeral. And clearly showing that we believe God's faithfulness colours the morning. And He does. He is and remains faithful.

The other day, a friend of ours preached a sermon that said; "God's goodness is not a matter of what He does or does not do. It is a 'state of being'. He is good and nothing can change that." That articulates exactly how we have been experiencing it all along. God is and remains good!

Then comes next Wednesday. The 20-week ultrasound. We can't deny that it's just plain exciting. We have both taken time off and we are going to the WKZ in Utrecht for an extensive ultrasound. Afterwards, we have planned to celebrate together the new life we will be welcoming in a few months. Because yes, that really is a celebration!

How much we are looking forward to our little one, this little 'ter Borg' who is so incredibly welcome. How much we will enjoy it!

We had been there briefly this afternoon for our daughter and walked across the court. When I saw David's little monument, I couldn't keep dry. What a beautiful place he has been given and what a beautiful picture say.
Nienke's grave gets a metamorphosis from us, as it has become very dilapidated. after 10 years. The bear is hosed down and the copper plate polished and given a protective layer against further oxidation. We think she has earned this.

What a beautiful memorial! The song 'His faithfulness colours the morning' has become a bit David's song. When I listen to it I think of him and you and thank you for your 3-times, no now 4-times!

Darlings, how nice it was to go to David's grave with Dad for a moment with you. It is like you yourselves. Full of hope and testimony to God's faithfulness and incredibly clever and beautifully done.
Tomorrow is really exciting, I feel the same with you. How much we look forward with you to this new little ter Borg. ( and a little Klomp of course) :)

Dear Marieke and Nathaniel

Great to read your blog and to see your beautiful grave of David. It is so striking how you write about your own emotions and experiences and at the same time about God our Father, about His goodness....He never changes and that is so wonderful!
Good luck this week, as I can vividly imagine it's exciting.... and....four celebration to give a warm welcome to the ter Borg in advance!!!

Love from your uncle and aunt Koert&Gea
