Whaa, 1 week and 2 days to go!
Tomorrow we go to Nijmegen for the last regular appointment.
As it looks now, we may call next Wednesday (21 November) at 7am to see if there is room for us. The delivery room, gynaecologist, the team of paediatricians, spot on the Nicu, ECMO - if everything is available, we may go that way to induce labour!
They start very gently with pills that can trigger contractions. I am given two pills three times a day. If nothing happens, I will be given the same pills again the next day and again the day after. With David, labour started very quickly, so I secretly don't expect it to take much longer this time.
We are so curious about our little Ukkie! What will he look like? Will he be tall, like it looked on the ultrasounds? Will he really have as much hair as the ultrasounds showed? How will he react to life outside the womb? When will we be able to hold him? When will he be allowed to come home with us for a life in our little family?
Our house is ready. The nursery is ready again, everything has been washed and ironed. The cot is ready, the changing table is filled with nappies, wipes and care products. The pram is ready for lots of walking. The playpen is back in the room, ready for Ukkie to play in.
Above all, our hearts are heartsick. We are so looking forward to being able to cuddle, love and raise our son. We are looking forward to his eyes, his movements, his first laugh and his first sounds. We have so much love to give, sweet Ukkie - you are so wanted and welcome!
