Maternity week behind us
A maternity week. What a good invention that is. We had often heard stories about how nice it would be, but we had not yet experienced it ourselves. Until now, that is!
After we came home from hospital the Friday of our delivery, we were introduced to our maternity assistant. First we had to get a feel for what kind of person is coming and that she is taking over your household. Not that I minded, but Marieke had to get used to it 😁
But soon it was a treat to be cared for so well. And now in retrospect we can say that we were very lucky with our maternity assistant and could not have wished for a better one.
The whole house was taken care of. The laundry didn't get a chance to get dirty, a clean bed every other day, breakfast in bed and delicious lunch (especially for Marieke, but sometimes I got to enjoy it too 😊 ) and fruit works of art as snacks.
And last but not least. Taking us into the care of a tiny - newborn baby less than 1 day old. Frankly, we could do with that for a while. Because apart from it being almost 8 years since we had our other miracle Gideon, we only came home when he was 3 months old and things like breastfeeding were not an option. And now many things were the first time for us and we could still learn a thing or two.
Closing the maternity week was also a bit of an emotional moment. Our first chapter in life WITH Rosalie. But we look forward to the future with confidence and pleasure.
